Case Manager Meeting Update
Hello everyone,
I wanted to share an update on my case manager meeting. First, I want to thank you for all of your prayers. I truly felt supported going into this meeting, and I am incredibly grateful for each of you standing with our family.
My case manager meeting was EXCELLENT.
Here is a breakdown of what was discussed:
First Step Act Time Credits
Are my First Step Act days currently building and being calculated correctly?
YES. My case manager confirmed that I have done a great job earning my time credits and commended me for my intentional effort to stay productive while in prison. This was a big win and very encouraging.
Transfer Closer to Home
Is it possible for me to transfer to a prison closer to home?
YES. As soon as he saw that my home address is in California, he immediately added a note to my file stating that I will need to transfer to a California facility in order to be released to home confinement in the future. Because of my conduct and productive prison journey, he had no hesitation advocating for this on my behalf.
Camp Eligibility
Am I currently eligible to be transferred to a prison camp?
YES. This would require a specific request, but he expressed full willingness to advocate for me because of my track record and the fact that I have a risk score of zero. The only reason I am not already at a camp is because my sentence length was originally over ten years.
Potential Transfer Timeline
Could I request a transfer to California in September when I reach my 18-month benchmark?
YES. He is pushing everything forward to make this possible and encouraged me by saying, “Keep doing what you are doing, Mr. Bartlett.” I could make this request sooner, but I would like to complete my dog apprenticeship program first.
Summary
All of the hard work I’ve been putting in here is paying off and creating real opportunities for incremental increases in liberty. I am committed to continuing to be an example of what is possible through the First Step Act and hope to inspire other incarcerated individuals to pursue a productive life behind barbed wire.
Thank you again for your prayers. It truly meant the world to me. We received clarity, and now it is time to pray through timing.
I am thankful to have options moving forward and am trusting God to guide our family on when to make specific requests so that each step leads closer to home.
If you feel led to pray, I would be deeply grateful for:
• God’s perfect timing and favor in every decision and request
• Continued progress toward transfer closer to home
• Placement in a safe prison camp environment that protects my well-being
• Strength and endurance for our family during this season
• Financial provision and covering for my wife and children
• Most of all, prayer that I will come home to them as soon as possible
Please know how thankful I am for each of you. Your love, encouragement, and faithful prayers give me strength every single day and remind me that we are not walking this journey alone.
With deep gratitude,
Brett
