Ok… before you read Brett’s newest letter about “The Finn Effect” and his special friendship with a man named “Speedy”…
please let me have one tiny “shameless” moment to show off some of these beautiful lash and brow transformations I’ve been working on lately...
I honestly still can’t believe this little business is becoming real.
There’s something so special about helping another woman feel refreshed, confident, beautiful, and cared for—especially during seasons of life that feel heavy or exhausting.
And if I’m being completely honest…
these appointments have become so much more than “lashes and brows” to me.
Every appointment, every referral, every encouraging message… it’s helping me provide for Cambria, Willow, Lula, and Zion while Brett is away.
After such a long year of emotional highs, painful lows, uncertainty, and stretching seasons… I’m working incredibly hard to build something stable for our family.
And truly… every ounce of support means more than you know.

The Finn Effect
“BRETT… BRING THE BIG FINN MAN OVER HERE!!!”
One of my barbed wire brothers nicknamed “Speedy,” who is paralyzed from the waist down, is loudly yelling from his wheelchair for me to bring his furry friend across the prison yard for an afternoon “VISIT.”
The Fantastic Mr. Finn’s floppy black ears immediately perk up at the sound of Speedy’s voice echoing across a yard packed full of testosterone-fueled prisoners.
And I’m telling you right now…
the second Finn hears his buddy call for him, something inside this dog comes alive.
I can literally see the future superhero service dog hidden inside of him activate in real time.
His body posture changes.
His focus sharpens.
His tail starts wagging with purpose.
Mr. Finn knows exactly what time it is.
It’s time to bring a wave of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE back into Speedy’s complicated life.
Now please understand something about my friend “Speedy.”
This hurting man with a past has spent nearly 30 years inside multiple high-security federal prisons.
Thirty years…
behind razor-sharp barbed wire.
Thirty years of punishment.
Thirty years of isolation.
Thirty years of slowly being forgotten by the outside world.
Most family and friends stopped showing up for Speedy a long time ago.
And honestly…
even inside prison itself…
he’s often invisible.
As Speedy wheels himself around our concrete compound in his rusty, rattling wheelchair, most able-bodied inmates barely even notice him anymore.
BUT…
there is one selfless soul with big floppy black ears who sees “THE REAL SPEEDY” in a way us silly humans never could.
I swear somehow Finn just knows he was born to serve hurting souls like this man.
My furry friend can sense the shame and sorrow that tries to suffocate Speedy daily.
And deep down…
I think Finn understands something many humans don’t:
Only UNCONDITIONAL LOVE can break the chains of a person’s past.
As we get within a few feet of Speedy and his weathered wheelchair, Finn looks up at me with those big brown eyes as if he’s begging permission to love on his forgotten friend.
The moment our eyes meet…
I proudly say the magic word:
“VISIT.”
And instantly…
Mr. Finn springs into superhero action.
After hearing the word “VISIT,” Finn rises up onto his two back paws and gently rests his front paws perfectly across Speedy’s awaiting lap.
Then…
my empathetic pup carefully lowers his soft furry head directly onto this hurting man’s chest.
Right over his heart.
And gosh…
the second Finn’s chin touches Speedy’s chest…
everything changes.
For a brief moment…
this forgotten man feels SEEN again.
Not judged.
Not mocked.
Not discarded.
Seen.
Loved.
Valued.
Two broken souls simply soaking in unconditional love together in the middle of a prison yard.
As I stand there trying my absolute best to stop the crocodile tears rolling down my cheeks…
all I hear Speedy softly whispering over and over again is:
“Thank you, Finn…”
“Thank you, Finn…”
“Thank you, Finn…”
Mr. Finn truly is a guardian angel with a tail who was put on this earth to show people what unconditional love actually looks like.
I’m beyond grateful God allowed me to become part of Finn’s superhero service dog story and personally witness this extraordinary pup LOVE Speedy back to his true self.
“Lord Jesus, I don’t pretend to fully understand everything You’re doing behind this razor-sharp fence… but gosh, it’s absolutely beautiful. Thank You for continuing to LOVE on us broken men with Your warm embrace. Thank You for never giving up on Your sons.”
In just a few short years…
Speedy will be released back into society after spending decades inside federal prison.
BUT…
if I’m being honest…
“The Finn Effect” has already set his soul free.
LOVE ALWAYS WINS!!!

Honestly…
I don’t even know how someone could read Brett’s letter above and not feel deeply moved by the unconditional love pouring out of this extraordinary dog.
Mr. Finn…
thank you for lovingly reminding these men—who often feel buried beneath shame, regret, punishment, and loneliness—who they REALLY ARE in the eyes of their Father in Heaven.
Not forgotten.
Not discarded.
Not too far gone.
But deeply loved sons worthy of compassion, connection, and grace.
I’m beyond grateful Brett takes the time to share these priceless LOVE STORIES with all of us because every handwritten word proves something so powerful:
Not even an electrified fence can stop God from LOVING ON His cherished children.
Not prison walls.
Not shame.
Not a complicated past.
Nothing.
YES… Brett was sent to federal prison as a consequence for the decisions made in his past life.
BUT…
our GREAT & MERCIFUL God met my forever person in the messy mud of life and somehow transformed his painful prison journey into a redeeming and healing LOVE STORY.
Only God can do something like that.
Only God can take a cold cement prison yard…
and turn it into holy ground where broken men are slowly being loved back to life.
“Lord Jesus, thank You for LOVING ON Brett and his barbed wire brothers while they serve their prison sentences. Even in a pit built to punish, Your divine love is reminding these hurting men they are adored sons of the Most High. Thank You for never abandoning us in our lowest moments. Thank You for LOVING US back to You.”
Finn, my dearest furry friend…
you truly are a living, breathing testimony that:
